My Perfectly Imperfect Poo-eating dog
Sure, sure, she looks all sweet and innocent but what Izzy isn't hinting at is how she ran into the bunnies' enclosure while the girls were cleaning it last night and scarfed up a whole bunch of bunny poos before anyone could snatch her. (Sorry, I hope you weren't eating malt balls while reading this).
*sigh* For some reason both Izzy and our labrador Tule think that bunny poos are delicious candy treats the bunnies set out for their doggy friends to snack on. Those two pups love to suddenly show up when you're busy in the bunny cage and suck up poo like a high-powered vacuum. It happens so fast you hardly know what's happening.
The second thing you can't tell from Izzy's face is how around 2 a.m. she started doing that gagging thing dogs do. Gary sprung out of bed from a dead sleep to grab Iz and run her into the bathroom, where she barfed (on the bathmat rather than the hard floor. nice.).
From the darkness I heard Gary scold her like a two-year-old "And that's why you don't eat bunny poo." I just had to laugh out loud.

Reader, you think I can't hear you, but I can. You're whispering to yourself "Why is she writing a blog post about this?" and truthfully . . . I don't know. I guess I just like to keep it real all up in here.

Jenny, my dogs beg to go outside to dine on frozen rabbit pellets in our flower beds. When our vet runs fecal tests on them for parasites, she always calls to ask us "Do you know your dogs eat rabbit poop?" Yep we know....we know.
ReplyDeleteToo funny. Isn't it crazy just how much they love it?
DeleteHi - just discovered you on a link from a UK blog I follow- great header. Yep my dog does that too. Cow poo is his favourite.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! Sorry you had to encounter this poo-chat post on your first visit. :)
DeleteHe he he. Keepin' it real. Now remember, if you were living back in the 1700's (or 1800's, depending on which book you're reading that week), Izzy and Tule would be into rabbit bits and who knows what else. Plus, they'd be sleeping outside, so no worry about where she, um, deposited it. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally get that springing into action bit. Geo gave Max some pork roast last week that had a bit of spice on it and Geo had to do that mad dash to the back door with Max under one arm. Luckily it is a rare occurence around here. He told Mace that Max was doing 'the accordian walk' and that is how he clued in. Now that is the big joke around here. When you're feeling nauseas you're doing 'the accordian walk'. Real life. Love it. :)
Oh my gosh - you've got me laughing hysterically - "the accordian walk" is such a fitting description. I'm using that from now on.
DeleteThat's a pain. I had a dog who ate his own poo which was much worse, though. You don't even want to know. Izzy is adorable! I would love to have a little one like her someday.
ReplyDeleteOh no. I can see how that would NOT be a good scenario. Izzy is our first small dog and I have to say I love her. Sort of like having a very cute, interactive cat who doesn't shed.
DeleteI wasn't thinking that at all!
ReplyDeleteI was chuckling to myself thinking that 1. your dog is cute and 2. your husband seems like a nice man and 3. I'm glad stuff like this happens to other people because sometimes blog land is too shiny and perfect.

1. Isn't she the cutest!?
Delete2. Yes, he is pretty nice, mostly.
3. I love being real. Really.
:)
Ha ha! Our Lab loves sheep poo which is a problem as there are lots of sheep around where we live. He also likes a sneaky snack from the cat's litter tray if no one is looking :( Horrible beast and then he wants to lick our faces.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckle, I could just imagine the whole thing! It's funny how fast you can scramble when you hear the cat/dog gagging/hairball hack :) Our Golden use to love cat poo out of the litter box-we called it Almond Roca-
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny, especially your partner's choice of scolding words.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing out loud just reading this! Sam is giving me funny looks from across the room!
