No-one celebrates it here but my friend Debora, who is German, told me all about the charming tradition they have in Germany in which shoes are polished and left outside the front door overnight for St Nicholas to fill with sweets and treats while the kids sleep. Lovely.
We don't do the shoe thing but my mom used to do it for my younger siblings sometimes. I do like the idea of celebrating the "real" Saint Nicholas, but alas, I just never got around to starting the tradition.
Ah, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis makes it happy, indeed.
Me too.
DeleteHappy St Nicholas's day to you too! I must say I was surprised to look at the date and find it was here already!
ReplyDeleteIsn't this month just speeding by?! We're going to blink and it will be 2013.
DeleteRight back at cha!!! Gorgeous photos Jenny! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy! Hope those floors are coming along nicely.
